Wichita - St. Margaret Mary
St. Margaret Mary, Wichita

Message from Pastor

St. Margaret Mary is a young, growing parish with a large immigrant community. Each culture has many gifts to offer, and our challenge is in bringing all three together into one parish community. Our school is a vital part of our community because it helps to bring our new families more fully into the parish and also gives our children educational opportunities that some of their parents never had. Education is the entire person and only a Catholic education can address the mystery of life in the concrete realities of applied living. A child rooted in faith and excelling in academics will be a more honorable and hard working person as an adult. The Drexel Fund helps us meet our teachers' salaries and ensure that they receive additional training so that they can better serve children from a variety of backgrounds.

What makes our school special

  • Even though we are a financially struggling school, our students continue to excel in academics. They work very hard to achieve high scores on the state assessments and religion assessments each year.
  • We are a diverse community where children can be proud of their heritage while learning to love and respect others from different cultures.
  • Majority of our parents say the school sets high expectations for their child.

What The Drexel Fund means for us

The money we receive from the Drexel Fund primarily helps pay for our students to continue Catholic Education at Kapaun Mount Carmel or Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. Any excess helps supplement teachers’ salaries, which are below the diocesan average. We also have used the funds to maintain our 1954 building with a focus on safety and functionality.
